About On Target
Northeastern IPM Center Funded. We recently received word that the USDA plans to fund the Northeastern Integrated Pest Management Center on a 4-year grant starting in September, 2003. Principle investigators on the project are John Ayers of Penn State, Jim VanKirk of Cornell and Mike Hoffmann of Cornell. We expect the new project to have a significant increase in funding compared to funding for the last 3 years. All of this is contingent upon final completion of the contract between USDA and Penn State.

Symposium on Herbicide-Biodiversity Relationships: Herbicides are widely used in forest management throughout the world to control vegetation competition. Herbicides potentially affect biodiversity in several ways, including indirectly via changes in plant community structure and composition. These and other issues related to forestry herbicides will be discussed on the afternoon of September 10, 2003 at a Symposium titled, "Relationships between Herbicides and Forest Biodiversity." The Symposium, which is being offered as part of The Wildlife Society's 10th annual conference in Burlington, VT, will offer invited presentations by some of the foremost experts on forest/herbicide relationships in the U.S. and CanadaŠ.Registration information, a schedule of presentations, and other information about the TWS Conference and Herbicide Symposium may be viewed at http://www.wildlife.org/. For more information, you may also contact Dr. Miller or Dr. Wigley.

NEPMC On Target is "new and improved" version of the for NEPMC Insider. So continuing subscribers don't have to update links, we'll keep the same url. A web page with the address http://nepmc.org/insider/current.html always holds the most recent issue.
Each issue will also continue to have its own unique location at http://nepmc.org/insider/mmmyyyy.html, where "mmm" is 3 letter abbreviation for the month and "yyyy" is four digit year designation.
As of the January, 2003 issue we are now numbering issues using volume (2001=1, 2002=2, etc.) and number (Jan=1, Feb=2, etc.) We may retroactively renumber previous issues using this system.
