Anne Carter
Anne Carter has a PhD in Horticulture from Texas A&M University and has a
half faculty half Extension appointment at the University of Massachusetts.
For the past six years she has specialized in urban agriculture from both
the farmers' and the community's perspective with a special emphasis on
getting food into the city.Ed Stockman

Ed Stockman is employed by the Northeast Organic Farming Association of
Massachusetts as there organic extension educator. As such, he serves the
eclectic needs of organic farmers and gardeners of the Baystate. He has been
growing vegetables and berries organically for 33 years and presently
operates a commercial berry operation in Plainfield, MA. He holds both a
B.S. and M.S. in biology.Ken Welch

Associate Scientist 1995-Expertise:
Ken Welch is an entomologist whose expertise is the identification of
arthropods such as insects, spiders, mites that affect people, the home,
ornamentals, turf, and vegetables. He also provides information on the
control of pest arthropods, using an integrated pest management approach.
Jennifer Hashley
Jennifer Hashley serves as Project Coordinator for the New Entry Sustainable Farming Project (NESFP) at Tufts University. In that capacity, she develops training and technical assistance curriculum for new entry farmers, teaches an 18-week farmer training course and on-farm workshops, oversees 3 training farm sites throughout eastern Massachusetts and performs a variety of managerial functions for the project. Ms. Hashley’s completed an intensive hands-on apprenticeship in Ecological Horticulture at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Prior to this, she served as a Hillside Agriculture Extensionist in Honduras with the US Peace Corps. Before her tour in Honduras, Ms. Hashley worked as an Environmental Consultant drafting biological impact analysis reports and permits for various projects and has conducted aquatic ecology research for the University of Notre Dame. Ms. Hashley holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Policy from Tufts University, holds a Certificate in Management of Community Organizations from Tufts University, a Certificate in Ecological Horticulture from UC, Santa Cruz, and a B.S. in Environmental Science and Public Policy from Indiana University.
Jaime Iglesias
Jaime Iglesias is the Garden Projects and Centro Agrícola Coordinator for Nuestras Raíces. He has over 50 years of experience in agriculture in Puerto Rico, New York and Massachusetts, and is highly experienced in urban agriculture and the production of Puerto Rican crops. Mr. Iglesias joined Nuestras Raíces in 1993 as a community gardener, was elected Garden Coordinator by his peers in 1995, chosen Coordinator of all the community gardens of Holyoke in 1997, and launched the Centro Agrícola community agricultural center project in 1998. He has presented on urban agriculture to conferences, foundations and community organizations in Las Vegas, NM, Bronx, NY and Philadelphia, PA, and was awarded a Civic Pride Award by the Mayor of Holyoke in 1994.
Eric ToensmeierEric Toensmeier is the Farm Project Director for Nuestras Raíces. He is developing and overseeing the new farmer incubation and training program of Nuestras Raíces, helping 6-10 community members launch commercial farming operations with access to land, equipment, training and technical assistance. He was a Program Specialist at the New England Small Farm Institute for 5 years, specializing in beginning farmer training, and owned and operated a seed company for three years. He has authored two forthcoming books on permaculture and gardening. He holds a BA in Permaculture and Social Ecology from Goddard College, Vermont.
