Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is a science and information based pest management system that offers unique opportunities as the basis of a school curriculum. IPM directly impacts many of our concerns to protect the environment and provide safe food and water.
The University of Connecticut College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, in conjunction with the Bingham Trust Foundation, is working closely with area teachers and curriculum specialists to prepare a comprehensive curriculum that addresses the environmental issues that we face today. The Connecticut IPM Curriculum is a carefully designed course of study that provides students from grades K-12 with hours of enjoyable, active learning experiences. Aligned to both state and national science standards, the lessons foster both critical thinking skills and cooperative interaction to solve real life environmental and economic problems. The major area of focus is science; however, language arts, social studies, mathematics, and the fine arts are incorporated in the lessons.
Come learn how your current program can be enhanced by embedding IPM in the school curriculum.
