Abstract:
The Maryland Invasive Species Council provides leadership concerning invasive species and encourages efforts that prevent the introduction of, and manage the impact of, invasive species on Maryland ecosystems. Learn about how the council succeeds in bringing together disparate entities to form consensus, build partnerships, provide focus, and disseminate information to combat invasive species in the Free State.
Biography:
Carol Holko is the acting Chief of the Plant Protection and Weed Management Section of the Maryland Department of Agriculture. During her 22 years with the Department, Carol has supervised beneficial insect rearing, biocontrol and IPM programs, served as quarantine officer for the Department's Beneficial Insect Quarantine Facility, and been supervisor of Laboratory Services. Carol is a founding member and is very active in the Maryland Invasive Species Council and serves as the council's Webmaster. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Entomology from Michigan State University.
