NIFA's 2018 Crop Protection and Pest Management RFA Released
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) announced support to address critical state, regional, and national integrated pest management (IPM) needs to ensure food security and respond effectively to other major societal pest management challenges. Funding is made through NIFA’s Crop Protection and Pest Management (CPPM) Grants Program.
The CPPM Grants Program encourages the establishment of strong communication networks and active participation of stakeholders to increase the impact of the research and extension. In fiscal year 2018, NIFA will solicit proposals for the Applied Research and Development Program Area (ARDP) and the Regional Coordination Program Area (RCP) of the CPPM program.
Eligible applicants include colleges and universities, including Hispanic-serving Agricultural Colleges and Universities, and research foundations maintained by eligible colleges or universities. NIFA reviews all proposals accepted in NIFA’s competitive grant programs through an external peer review process in which a panel of experts from within the respective field in question takes part. Specific details on panel meetings, review formats, and evaluation criteria may vary among programs.
The anticipated amount available for competitively-awarded grants in fiscal year 2018 is approximately $4.1 for ARDP and $4.1 million for RCP. The deadline for applications is May 8, 2018. Please see the funding opportunity for details.
