WHAT IS NYFVIS EXTENSION INNOVATION GRANT PROGRAM? The New York Farm Viability Institute, Inc. (NYFVI) is seeking proposals for projects of up to a two year duration that will work directly with agricultural producers (field or horticultural crops, livestock, dairy, greenhouse, nursery, turf grass and other specialized agricultural businesses including but not limited to equine and aquaculture enterprises) to make their businesses more successful while providing models that can be used to strengthen the performance of any sector of New Yorks agricultural economy.

TYPES OF WORK THAT MAY BE FUNDED The NYFVI Extension Innovation Grants Program will support investments in new approaches and innovative programs that focus on extension, outreach, technical assistance and/or business management education and services to address well-identified barriers to success for defined groups of producers or specific segments of New Yorks diverse agricultural production sector. Projects should include components (e.g. education, outreach, information transfer, technical assistance) that will foster the adoption and implementation of new technologies, practices, production systems or management strategies. This program seeks proposals for innovations in extension, outreach and technical assistance, not research.

WHO MAY APPLY? Proposals will be accepted from agricultural and commodity organizations, Cornell Cooperative Extension (statewide programs, regional programs or local Associations), SUNY units and other academic institutions, and other organizations involved in activities such as education, technology adoption and business assistance for farms and other agricultural production enterprises.
