Michigan State University: Weather Information System Coordinator for Enviroweather (www.enviroweather.msu.edu), a weather-based system for making pest management, natural resources or agricultural production decisions. Enviro- weather was launched as a pilot program in 2006 and has been funded for expansion.

The Weather Information System Coordinator position is classified as an Academic Specialist-Outreach, 100% full-time annual with a 3 year initial appointment contingent upon satisfactory performance, renewal opportunity based on availability of funds.

A bachelors of science degree in biological/agricultural sciences or agricultural communications along with 2 years of experience is required; a masters degree is preferred. Two years experience with information delivery of pest, agricultural, natural resource, or environmental weather is desired. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are required.

Primary responsibilities include: Organizing and leading work groups of University staff, other professionals, and web site users to prioritize pest, ag production, and natural resource educational services derived from environmental weather data and affiliated information resources. Developing training and publications for web site users based on information from the system, other educational resources and user input. Securing resources to support system priorities, including preparing grants and contracts in support of system priorities. Working with project directors and an advisory committee to plan use of internal and external resources. Write and submit reports.

The project is sponsored by Project GREEEN, MSU Extension, and Michigan Agricultural Experiment Station and housed within the MSU IPM Program. The MSU Climatological Resources Program is a key collaborator.
