Job Position: Environmental Health Program Specialist Pennsylvania Integrated Pest Management Program (PA IPM)

Summary of Job: Responsible for coordinating, instructing, budgeting and administering public health survey and outreach in low-income housing in Philadelphia, PA and Camden NJ. Specific topic of study is residents attitude and behavior around pest infestation and pesticide use and outreach education on integrated pest management and less-toxic methods of pest control. Position is located at the Penn State Philadelphia Outreach Center.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Assist in developing, testing and revising survey instrument. 2. Assist in selection and recruitment of households to participate. 3. Participate in and supervise administration of survey (student/hourly) 4. Develop and coordinate outreach programs to residents 5. Report on progress 6. Maintain fiscal records 7. Communicate with PA IPM staff 8. Communicate with media and program partners

Minimum Qualifications: Good administrative, communication skills Team player Ability to work with diverse populations Basic computer skills Ability to travel (valid drivers license and own car) Prefer experience in public health/community relations Experience working in Philadelphia low-income neighborhoods Familiarity with urban Integrated Pest Management issues a plus Bi-lingual a plus

Education and training: Bachelors degree or equivalent knowledge

Salary: Commensurate with experience/qualifications. Position is full-time with benefits.

Start Date: Position will remain open until a suitable candidate is found, with expected start date as the end of October 2006.

Duration: Project is funded for 2 years, with possibility of extension
