Administrative/Professional, full-time, permanent, 12-month appointment in Prosser, WA. Direct pesticide residue and efficacy studies on specialty food crops and ornamentals and serve as principal investigator for these studies. Studies are to be conducted according to EPA's Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) Standards and protocols developed internally at WSU in accordance with directives from the IR-4 regional and national headquarters. Submit proposals and bids to conduct GLP trials requested by members of the agricultural community and execute such trials.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Position requires a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate related scientific or engineering discipline and five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience which has included at least one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience. A Masters degree in an appropriate related discipline may be substituted for up to one (1) year of the required experience exclusive of the lead or supervisory experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree and combination, training, skills and experience that provide the required knowledge and abilities. Experience with EPA's Good Laboratory Practices. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan, organize, and implement planting, cultivating, applying test materials, and sampling of crops for scientific field experiments. Direct pesticide residue studies.
In the course of conducting and completing field trials, must hire, schedule, train, organize, supervise, and review the work of classified staff and time-slip personnel. Complete study reports; prepare, maintain, and submit field data notebooks for GLP field trials.
Communicate effectively with growers, agricultural consultants, and university personnel to determine or develop proper techniques and acquire proper trial locations.
Write, review, and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the conduct of field trials according to GLP standards; and develop, implement, and monitor a master schedule for a variety of field trials.
Prepare bids/proposals and develop protocols.
Determine equipment and supplies necessary to complete the trials. Either design, locate and secure permission for the use of, or write specifications for the ordering of equipment.
Maintain records, files, and archives of data in support of GLP trials and keep available for periodic audits.
