State of Iowa Posting Date: December 3, 2007 Closing Date: December 11, 2007 The territory for this position is Dallas and surrounding counties. Exotic Pest Survey Programs Coordinate emerald ash borer survey, outreach and eradication work cooperative with other agencies and partnering institutions. Conduct assigned plant pest, insect distribution or plant disease surveys so that information can be properly gathered and recorded and can contribute to making decisions concerning control or certification actions. Carry out all assigned work on eradication projects. Nursery Stock Grower, and Dealer, Programs --Conduct inspections of nursery stock grower operations so that plant pests and diseases can be detected and identified and decisions can be made concerning the certified state of those premises. Export Services Program --Conduct inspections of plants and plant products, determines certifiable status, and issues certificates as applicable on those plants and plant products that meet requirements so that shippers and related individuals may comply with plant regulations when exporting plants and plant products from or through Iowa. Maintain technical proficiency in area of expertise so that identification capabilities remain accurate, inspection procedures remain effective and efficient, and recommendations regarding control and prevention actions remain accurate. Maintain assigned laboratory equipment so that the usefulness of the equipment is extended to the maximum practical time and specific guidelines are adhered to.
